Pyronix KX18DC Digital Curtain PIR Detector
The Pyronix KX18DC is a professional wired indoor PIR curtain detector designed to provide narrow, targeted intrusion detection for corridors, windows, doorways, shopfronts, display areas, galleries, offices, and other areas where a standard wide-angle detector is not ideal. With its curtain-style detection pattern, the KX18DC creates a focused protective beam across a specific area, helping secure vulnerable entry points without unnecessarily covering the entire room.
Using a dual-element pyro-electric PIR sensor, the detector monitors infrared energy changes within the protected area and triggers the alarm panel when movement is detected. Its 20° curtain lens provides precise detection coverage, making it especially useful for protecting long, narrow spaces or creating a security “veil” across windows, doors, passages, or display zones.
The KX18DC offers detection coverage of up to 18m, with a 30m long-range lens option for extended applications. It also includes creep-zone protection to help detect movement directly below the detector, improving security in close-range areas.
For improved reliability, the detector uses Pyronix Blue Wave Technology, which combines advanced signal processing with digital temperature compensation, automatic sensitivity adjustment, and Independent Floating Thresholds. These features help maintain stable performance and reduce false alarms caused by environmental changes.
The detector also includes sealed optics to help protect the sensing chamber from insects, air movement, and internal reflections. Onboard EOL resistors make wiring faster and more flexible for different alarm panel configurations, while built-in tamper protection helps detect attempts to open or interfere with the device.
