Great system, easy to install and very good quality imaging (day and night). Endures severe weather well, although the one camera that is fully exposed to the elements did blank-out for a few days after a bad thunder storm, but image returned after a few days. Had to buy a second spool of cable which was severely poor quality very brittle outer casing and was not possible to split it neatly between coaxial and DC cables, I have some messy ends, but cable works fine.
The biggest draw back of the system for my case was that although the HVR can only handle up to 8 analogue cameras, ONLY 4 channels support AcuSense Smart Events, meaning if you need all eight cameras to have reliable non-false-alarm event detection you have to pick four of your most critical cameras for this and the rest will have to be permanent recordings without human detection at all.
Unless you're willing to settle for Motion Detection 2.0 which is fairly useful in mostly artificial or built-up environments, but in plot environments or high vegetation and animal traffic (even moths and flickering lights) zones, the Motion Detection 2.0 is not that reliable and you have to sacrifice sensitivity for peace, or gain higher sensitivity for a high rate of false alarms, so not very workable depending on your situation.
I enquired about a DVR/HVR that would accommodate a higher number of AcuSense capable cameras, and was told none existed, so do not be fooled by the AcuSense it is a HVR feature not camera unit feature as you might be tempted to believe based on the product page, and it is limited.
